"（北京讯）美国驻华大使馆早前希望把美国总统的中文译名统一为“欧巴马”，但中国和香港传媒仍然沿用“奥巴马”。中国规范外国人译名工作的新华社译名
室表示，按照惯例，已经沿用一段时间的译名不会随便更改。

　　新华社属下的《国际先驱导报》昨日引述一名外交部翻译称，“奥”代表深邃，“欧”代表欧洲，也容易令人联想到“欧巴桑”（日语阿姨、大婶），并不甚
佳。现时外国领导人的姓名翻译工作由新华社译名室来完成，现任美国总统的全名是“贝拉克·侯赛因·奥巴马”，自2004年11月3日以来一直沿用至今。
译名室负责人衷爽表示，奥巴马这个姓氏在肯尼亚很普遍，已经沿用多年，“如果他改了，那个家族的名字都会受影响。”所以，奥巴马这次想改名很难成
功。"
