So I pick up Anna from school....the tie resulted in a run-off...and yet *another* tie. Personally, I feel there was some corruption there. Heh No matter...that meant they *both* got into Student Council. The first meeting they vote on officers...you know, president, vice president, etc. You know what I told her? I told her "Refuse to take the job of secretary." She said, "But Heidi was secretary last year." "Exactly my point. That always happens. The guys always try to make the GIRLS be secretary because 'you have nice HANDWRITING.' To heck with that. Go for Treasurer or President and nothing else." ;-) Heh

You have an UPPITY attitude towards the secretarial position.

I do!1!1 It comes from years of being the damn "secretary." To me, it was an insult... it's probably a horrible misconception about the true importance of a secretary. It never seemed very important when I was doing it. (Hated it as much as "taking minutes." Shudder...)

I think that you're right. I believe that our latest secretary goes by the name of, "Condoleezza," and she's definitely a she.

Hey, I never got onto student council either. And Oranged00d always domineers at the sekrit cabal meetings.

I got on and then got kicked off. It was so long ago I no longer remember the circumstances, but apparently I've always been an a-hole.

You're not like the others, Peach <strawbe...@lpbroadband.net>... you like the same things I do! Wax paper! Boiled football leather! Dog breath!

Why are you teaching my hero, Li'l Peach, to be a ball-buster?

Once again, it's all in the attitude.
If I'm not Chair, I'm usually Secretary. My manga cum laude d-i-l has very pood handwriting. Both my son and I print about as well as most engineers - mine is getting just a little shaky now. I might have been CEO if my sig was illegible - that seems to be a requirement. 8-)
A person who is Secretary for more than one term usually becomes the most knowledgeable and valuable person in an organization. You get the correspondence and you have a major voice in everything that transpires.
In a work environment most bosses need a great Secretary and they need to appreciate her. People and calls have to get by her before they get to you. I didn't need spelling or letter-writing help but most bosses" do - and most don't even realize how much she covers for them.
Never think your talents are being underutilized - make the job showcase your talents.
Don't ever be "just something" - always be a "By God Something".

Very good.... and very helpful. I take back what I said. ;-) (I'd still rather be the BOSS.) :-D

I'd have less respect for you if you didn't have that much confidence in yourself. I presume that was a show of self-confidence.
