One of my Australian friends just visited and he gave me a "Value Share Pack" of Arnott's Tim Tam originals! Two malted chocolate biscuits sandwiching chocolate cream and dipped in coating chocolate!
YUMMY!!!
I only have three left! Maybe for after my Pharmacology exam on Monday. (Or maybe for tomorrow!)

Funny. They were available at Target for a while last year (?) and so of course I had to try them. Wasn't very impressed. Glad someone outside Australia likes them<g>

Yeah, I Googled them and Target came up as having them, under the Pepperidge Farm name. Said Target would or did have Dark Chocolate ones.

I don't quite understand why, but the ones from Oz and not made for export, are better.

the double coat ones (made in Oz) are the best...they taste much more like the original Tim Tams, before the company was bought out by O/S interests
then there's white Tim Tams (best refrigerated), dark ones, chewy caramel, honeycomb, mint crips etc etc...totally blah IMO

They're not great at room temperature but if you put them into the freezer to chill down the filling they're ambrosia! Freezing them makes them less sweet and gooey. Our Target has just enlarged their food section and they have a shelf space with a tim-tams label on it, but they didn't have any tim-tams yet last week. I live in hope! --

I've seen them especially around the holidays at Cost Plus.

have you tried making Tim Tam Truffles? We make them once a year as a seasonal treat. All you do is whiz two packets of Tim Tams in the food processor with 250g cream cheese. Then roll the mixture into balls. Roll the balls in chocolate hail, or freeze them, then dip them in melted chocolate. This recipe can, of course, be halved so that only 1 packet of biscuits is required along with 125g cream cheese.

I just ate my last three Tim Tams, and did Tim Tam Slams with my coffee! Mmmmmmm!
I gotta get more of these wondrous Aus treats!! :-) I cursorily looked over the cookies aisle at the grocers today. Very cursorily and did not find any.

I make real truffles as one of my Christmas Candy selections. Truffles are terribly easy!
1/2 to 1 cup cream (depending on how soft you like them!) 1 lb chocolate
Chop up chocolate, boil cream, turn off heat, add chopped chocolate and stir stir stir!
Pour into a flat pan lined with plastic wrap and refrigerate. Cut up, roll into balls and either roll in cocoa or dip in dipping chocolate. Easy peasy!

That sounds delicious, Judith. I had heard a lot about Tim Tams online but the first time I tried them was last April in NZ.
I had bought a few packages of various flavors and passed them around to our small tour group after dinner as we sat in a hotel function room and watched "The World's Fastest Indian". I think we were in Greymouth at the time.
For all who have never heard of it, it's a delightful NZ movie about an old guy who loves motorcycle racing. It's worth renting if you like old guys and feel-good movies.

Tim Tam slams! I haven't indulged in that for a while. It's good to know Antipodean customs have spread to North America! FYI there is a NZ version of Tim Tams called Chit Chats. Every bit as delicious as its Aussie cousin.

Yes, it's a good movie! And Anthony Hopkins does a pretty passable Kiwi accent. And it's a true story, which makes the movie even better.

You must have got a dodgy pack!!
Or, they weren't made in Australia.
We *always* have a pack of TT's on hand in the fridge. I prefer the plain, or the double coated.

If we are not meant to eat animals, why are they made of meat?

No, but I think it's going to be on the menu for Christmas :-)

"Chocolate hail"???
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! GIMF :-)
Chocolate sprinkles.

A quick and easy truffle recipe, many thanks Judith :-)
I usually make a variety of flavoured truffles for Christmas, so this year I'm going to take it easy on myself and do just one :-)
Although, I might change the cream cheese to a ganache ;-)

I used to have one of a night with a cup of tea and a glass of Muscat.
I did the TT slam in the Muscat ;-)

As I have said, the ones from Oz are quite different from what I generally find here. The former are definitely yummy. The latter were so-so.

Almost ALL of the sugary snacks from Oz are darned tasty... had a few friends in Australia I exchanged junk food with over the years and have become quite a fan of too many.
Tim Tam and Poly Waffle are favorites, Violet Crumble is better than favorite (dark coffee poured over violet crumble which has been crumbled in the bottom of the mug is the resulting addiction there LOL), Aussie "flake" bars seem to me better than any of the other flake bars... could go on for a long time but better stop now before I put everyone to sleep.
