Picture of Yellowstone

This image was shot by a cyber friend of mine and she was not intending to look for anything as related to water and Yellowstone. She simply photographs there and made a notation..but I thought it was interesting..She said about the photo enclosed.: ---"Spring of 2008 in Yellowstone Park was indeed "elusive". Even in the... more »

Dave Nice illustration. It shows the second Nevada 3.6M. On USGS there are a couple of 4M's in the Marianas, which are on the great circle route from West Papua to California. I'll stay tuned, Donald -------------- Original message -------------- ...Hi Bob, They must have all taken the weekend off and turned off the equipment because everything is just fine and within background levels of activity. The cone of recent activity heading toward Nevada and Northern California is probably just a fluke.... more »

Hi all, Apparently the Univ. of Utah shut down for the weekend. I cannot find any events--not even USGS--for more than thirty-six hours. Did someone unplug Yellowstone? The Promontory webcorder shows one event about 2:17am today. It also shows up on the Lake unit, which also shows a bunch of minor ticks;... more »

Pinpoint-News-- Re: Kp 4 Patrol: one Kp 4

Update 2
No more Kp 4's so this one qualifies as a single, and 7M quakes are not unusual.
The number of 5M quakes has increased dramatically to 22 from Thursday, which is over the normal high for the DIGEST week in only three days. The day's global volcanism can be followed at:

Pinpoint-News-- Volcanic Eruption to FL350

Here's the link to the more readable posting on the Washington VAAC:
[link]
Draw a great circle round on the globe from Montserrat, West Indies, to Kamchatka, Siberia, Russia, and it comes close to Yellowstone. Add the seismic energy from Papua New Guinea's two 7M quakes, and the next scene has more violent possibilities. Such energy in the past has made it to Yellowstone, but here the probability is small until events indicate otherwise.... more »
